EOH Exhibits

When?

Where?

Multiple buildings across the engineering campus. Please pick up a Visitor’s Guide on the east side of Engineering Hall (1308 W Green St) or the south side of Grainger Engineering Library (1301 W Springfield Ave) to see descriptions and locations of exhibits. You may also download the soft copy from the homepage of our website (eoh.ec.illinois.edu). Exhibit Listings are on Pages 14 - 39.

Additional Notes

Self-Guided Tour Suggestions are on Pages 6-7 of the Visitor’s Guide. Guided tours are offered every hour on the hour during EOH hours. They will start at the Visitor’s Booth on the south side of Grainger Engineering Library (1301 W Springfield Ave)

Shuttles and Parking

Parking at EOH is free! Please park your vehicles at lot E-14 at First St. and Kirby Ave. If you find that lot E-14 is full, you can park at lot B-22 at Goodwin Ave. and University Ave. The EOH Shuttle, operated by Peoria Charter, will run every 10-15 minutes during EOH hours with stops at:

School buses should drop off visitors on the west side of Wright St., between Springfield Ave. (north of Green St.) and Stoughton St. All buses must park in lot E-14. There is also a lot owned by JSM Apartments on Wright St. and Healey St. for $1/hour if that is more convenient for you.

Food and Entertainment

What is it?

Do you like good food? Do you want some awesome entertainment? If you said yes, then you’ll be glad to read about the entertainment central! We’ve set up a tent where you’ll be able to enjoy entertainment by some of U of I’s finest performers and buy food from some local food trucks. Some trucks to look forward to are Dragon Fire Pizza, Kona Ice, Fusilli Tony’s Italian Food, Cracked, and Burrito King!

Speaker Information

What is it?

Vilas Dhar is a social impact investor, attorney, and advisor to governments and businesses, known for his novel work connecting private capital and public good at individual and systemic levels. Vilas speaks and writes on impact investing, millennial leadership, and social change, and has addressed audiences on five continents, including lectures/panels at the White House, the United Nations, and Capitol Hill, and has been profiled/published in digital publications ranging from Forbes Magazine to the Harvard Business Review.

Tesla Coil Concert

What is it?

We’re excited to announce that the Tesla Coil Concert is back this year! Just as dark falls, visit the Bardeen Quad to see an electrifying display of light and sound.

Discover EOH

What is it?

Elementary school kids, this event is just for you! Participate in Discover EOH, a scavenger hunt throughout EOH to find the best exhibits!

When?

9:00am - 4:00 pm

Where?

Start at the Engineering Council Office ( 103C Engineering Hall, 1308 W Green St, Urbana ) to get your clues.

Additional Notes

Get stickers from the participating exhibits, and fill in the slots on your wristbands. Once you fill all of your wristband slots, go to the Engineering Council Office (103C Engineering Hall) for a prize.

Illini Engineering Challenge

What is it?

Here’s a chance for EVERYONE to work on an engineering project! The Illini Engineering Challenge is an onsite design challenge open to the general public, so everyone who attends EOH 2016 is welcome to participate. No matter if you are a child or an adult, we have set up different levels of challenges for you to solve! If you are interested in solving problems, please come and check it out!

30th Annual MRDC

What is it?

Do you think robots are cool? Do you want to see them compete? If you answered yes, this is just the event for you! Come by to watch robots as they compete on a course and pass various obstacles to obtain game pieces. What’s more, there might even be a demolition round in which robots can obliterate each other in a free-for-all frenzy till the last robot moving!!

High School Design Competition

What is it?

Teams of high school students have put their heads together to design ingenious, intricate and wacky contraptions to accomplish the simple task of opening an umbrella. Stop by to see these amazing machines in action and vote for your favorite one!

When?

Also, be sure to stop by the iHotel Ballroom between 10am – 12pm to check out the judging of the 5th grade Rube Goldberg machines built under the Engineers in Classroom Program.

Middle School Design Competition

What is it?

The Middle School Design Competition offers 6th through 8th graders an opportunity to engineer their own projects through a prepared design challenge. This year, the challenge is to build a bridge. Students will then compete in a contest to see how much weight their bridge can hold. Contests have to apply engineering principles combined with creativity to compete for the best design. Come and check it out!

Engineering Majors Fair

What is it?

Considering a future in engineering? Stop by the Engineering Majors Fair to learn more about different engineering majors and the engineering program at the University of Illinois. Representatives from each Engineering Department, Women in Engineering, the Morrill Engineering Program, University Admissions, and University Housing have been invited to answer questions. You’ll be able to talk to current faculty and students and get a first-hand account of all of the exciting opportunities available with Engineering at Illinois!
